This year was spectacular.

Posted by jkhri02 on June 23, 2010

This year, my second year in Ridgeivew, was my 7th year in elementary schools. Officially I’m supposed to be in a middle school because there are only 6 grades in South Korean education system. However, in British Columbian elementary schools there are 7 grades. This year was especially special, because it was my last year in elementary school and it was a unique year. I learned lots of thing this year in school and experienced many things. For example, I learned about volcanoes, ancient civilizations and self-defense moves. Moreover, I made a mask and went kayaking. In conclusion, this year, 2010, was very spectacular for me.

Visit to West Van Secondary School

Posted by jkhri02 on May 14, 2010

On this Monday, every grade 7 student went to WVSS(West Vancouver Secondary School) and took a tour around the school. Although it is true that I am not yet planning to enroll into this school, the tour was quite interesting. This school enrolled about 2000 students last year, so this school has enormous campuses and lots of recreational places, such as tennis courts, track and a long jump pit. In elementary schools, they only teach English and French. However, in WVSS there were other language classes, such as Spanish, German and Japanese class. Furthermore, there were fascinating classes, such as cooking, badminton and advanced chemistry classes. After the tour, I was in the math class for twenty minutes. In math class, they were learning how to create many types of graphs and how to read the information in graphs. After that, I went to the cafeteria and was interested by the number of the students who buy snacks, such as pizza. Moreover, I realized that in secondary schools, they have lots of homework and will be very hungry and won’t even have time to have proper, big meals. I now think that it might be an okay idea to go to WVSS, but my parents are the ones who make decisions, not me…

April 23, 2010

Posted by jkhri02 on April 23, 2010

This week was a very busy week for me at school. On Monday, I had to finish two PowerPoint presentations, in less than an hour, so that I wouldn’t have any homework. Furthermore, I had to finish the math homework in class. On Tuesday, we had to start the dance program and again, I had to finish my math homework in class. In dance, I’m in the same group with Nolan, Jack, Henry, Charles and Eric. We had several problems with the song, so we had to choose the other song. In addition, we had to start the persuasive argument. On next Tuesday, I’d have to present it. On Wednesday, I had to catch up with the “Pandora’s Box” play. I am a narrator and other evil things. Everyone received their costumes last week, and I had to be in band last week, because of the concert. So at lunch time, I had to go to the library and get my costumes. Since we had a concert last week, I thought the band class will be easy-going, but as usual, I was wrong. Band members started two more songs, which is very frustrating for me, since one of them is a very hard one. Thursday was the only day that was okay for me. I had worked on presentations for alcohol awareness already, so I didn’t really have to work much on it. However, today was the busiest. Today, I had to work on my French family presentation that is due next Wednesday, work on another presentation, which is Binge-Drinking, our dance, persuasive writing, and math and language arts. So basically, I think Friday is the day, when we get to do the entire subject, in a short amount of time.

March 12, 2010 Friday

Posted by jkhri02 on March 12, 2010

Today went pretty well. Even though, it was raining, it wasn’t really bad.

First, we had French. I got 2 marks off out of 15 because I didn’t realize that it had to be femine. And then we had Career and Personal Planning and I finished the work that is due Monday, so I’m free for now.

Next, there was recess, where I just played “Peace Tag.”

After recess, we had Physical Education, where we did gymnastics. I’ve finally succeeded flipping backwards. After PE, we had Socials, where we studied about Hammurabi’s code. My country, Republic of Korea has the law that is close to Hammurabi’s, whereas Canadians have rather milder law. For example, Korea gives execution to some kidnappers or murderers, but Canada has no execution system at all.

After I finished my spaghetti, I went outside and was about to play “Peace Tag,” but didn’t because I was it in recess and I didn’t want to be it again. So I’ve decided to play basketball instead. I couldn’t score, but still there wasn’t that many people and it was fun.

Now I’m blogging, but I’m expecting to go to Math and Language Arts. If I’m able to finish the word project, I will not have any homework for Monday.

February 5th, Friday, 2010

Posted by jkhri02 on February 5, 2010

Today, Februrary 5th, is a very important day for me, because it is  exactly 13 years from when I was born. In other words, today is my 13th birthday. Unlike other days, today was both unlucky and lucky. It was unlucky because when I was receiving passes, three times, when playing football at recess, I missed all of them. However, at lunch time, I made brought the first down for my team. Also, classes were’t bad either. I’ve almost finished my ‘Super Athlete’ and finsihed the MathCast. Moreover, I almost finished the cover of ‘Les Mascots’ and almost finished the part about Quatchi. Since it was my birthday, my classmates and kids in my lunch-monitoring class sung ‘Happy Birthday’ for me and I got the ‘Birthday Pencil’ from the office. Now, I’m waiting for the presents from Korea and from my sister. Also, I got one, which is a book named ‘God is Not Great’ by a reporter from the ‘London Observer.’ I’d been thinking about my new religion and think this could help me choosing a religion. My mom is going to let me watch the movies and play computer game for 2 hours. I hope my birthday will not be ruined.

This week, I had the Pendulum experince, made the Valentine Decoration with my buddy, started to play a new game named ‘World at War,’ made 2 touch downs, became a teenager and went to the last curling class. My favorites were curling and pendulum experience, because for curling, my team won and I’ve learned about the pendulum before.

Winter Break & Back to School

Posted by jkhri02 on January 8, 2010

Winter Break was great. Even though it was short, I went snowboarding, had a family reunion and saved $370.00 on the 26th, the Boxing Day. I could sleep until 1000 and go to bed at 2400. Still, coming back to school was good. I felt a little bit empty when I didn’t have any homework from school during the winter break, but now I am comfortable. Right now, I don’t have any homework and have nothing to do except for blogging. The bad old days, when I thought the due dates are far away, are over because I learned that I’ll have longer free time if I finish the homework right away. I hope the school work won’t go out of track and be more stabilzed.

December 4th, 2009

Posted by jkhri02 on December 4, 2009

There were several good news during this week.

It was very boring to play football with a few people during the lunch time and this was because almost all the Grade Sevens were in the Ridgeview Basketball Team. Finally, there was a Basketball Tournament on Wednesday and the Basketball season ended and many people are playing football now. I like to play football during the lunch time.

Another thing is that we’ve earned $3,000 that is suppose to be used to build two water wells in African villages. We collected about $3,250 and we’ll be able to buy some extra medical supplies.

Another good news is that we had a desk change. From where I’m sitting right now, I  can see what’s going in the class room because I can see the both doors from where I’m sitting.

Also, 14 days from now on, the Winter Break will start and Christmas is D-3 weeks.

Christmas Spirit

Posted by jkhri02 on December 4, 2009

On November 2nd, 2009, I brought 95%of the candies that I earned from trick-or-treating to school and donated them. Today my division was supposed to make Christmas Crackers with our buddies. Unfortunately, I was sick and had to miss the first block. Candies that we’ve donated will be sent to Ridgeview’s sister school, Grandview,  Queen Mary, Harvest Project and Covenant House. Some people there might not even get any Christmas presents except for our Christmas Crackers. Some people don’t even get any presents, not because they don’t celebrate Christmas, but because their families can’t afford them. I think I should be very thankful for being able to receive presents. Hopefully, people who will get our presents will be glad to receive our Christmas Crackers.

I Am Silent

Posted by jkhri02 on November 20, 2009

Today(November 20, 2009) is ‘I Am Silent’ Day. For a whole school hour, grade seven students(including me) have to be quiet. At first, I thought it would be easy, but unfortuneately, it wasn’t at all. I couldn’t ask any questions(I could only communicate by writing and using body language), express my feelings or talk to my friends. Only thing that was good was math cast and concentrating, because everyone was quiet and typing is easier than speaking. Thanking god, I have to be silent for only 15 minutes from now and I can talk!!!! Still, I think it is a good thing because we can help the Silent Africans by providing water supplies. I hope money that I collect will do something very good for the Africans…
